Cheap Toshiba Laptops Uk

Published by LaptopsDistrict, on Jun 16 2010, in the categories: Toshiba Laptops

Since their first laptop in 1987 Toshiba has come a long way, improved its technology, design and features and has become one of the most famous brands in the business all over the world. The Japanese technology provides good features at accessible prices, this bring one of the most important reasons for which they maintain their place among the best, because in spite of the good price, the quality remains the same (always the best).

The good thing about Toshiba laptops is that you have a high range of laptops to choose from and is kind of impossible not to find something that you like, and that suits your need. Also you shall not worry, because they are professionals when it comes to warranty issues and you will get „ripped off”, the bill will be reasonable and the quality, the best.

As I previously said, when choosing a laptop the first thing to do is to consider your needs and only afterwards think about design, RAM, hard size, speed etc.  After you have decided on your needs and necessities and also focused on the design and components it is time to decide on the sum of money you want to spend and find the best deal. There are plenty to choose from, you have to do some research, be patient and perseverent.

cheap-toshiba-laptops-uk

The easiest way is to go into a shop and start looking, testing and finally taking the big decision. Nevertheless there are some problems here, because you might find a very very good sales person that will sell you the worst laptop and make you believe it is the best. Of course, you may return it, but why go to the trouble. If you step into a shop be prepared to negotiate, feel free to speak your mind, don’t lose your focus and you shall make the right choice. The good think about going into a shop and buying a laptop is the fact that you can test the product first, see and touch the mercantile. There are plenty of good deals in shops, there are plenty of advertisements, best deals etc.

Another way to shop for laptops is online. It is a very cool way to shop, from my point of view because you do it wherever you want, whenever you want, and spent as much time as you want. This is the best way to shop if you have little time, or if you are just not in the mood to socialize with a sales person. There are plenty of deals as well, and you have the opportunity to test the product first and only afterwards decide if you buy it or not. The best place to buy Toshiba laptops is „Toshiba direct”, where you can always find the best deals, the best prices and the best quality.

cheap-toshiba-laptops-uk

Another way to find a cheap laptop is buying a second hand one. It is a good way to save money and you may get a great deal, but you must be careful, test the product and take the risk, because in the case of a second hand laptop you never know what you get. Although is you take the risks into consideration and know a bit about laptops you will find what you want.

No matter what option you choose, in a shop, online or second hand, cash or credit, you will surely manage to get the best deal if you think positive, negotiate and know exactly what you want. I wish you the best of luck in your search!

If you want to benefit from a plus of mobility offered by your notebook, you can opt for a Toshiba Portege 3440ct PC. You will also benefit from a comfortable keyboard, which confers even more accessibility and reliability when you need to perform your multitasking on the road.

It is already known that the Toshiba laptops offer more valuable printed documentation than other companies, and that they have the most powerful tools in their class. Any sort of information will be available from these printed guides. You can change the pm settings automatically when the battery power depletes.

You can buy the Toshiba Portege 8100 in different configurations. It also has a SelectBay, which is a multipurpose drive bay, and can work well with the external housing. It doesn’t weight to much either, only 6.1 pounds, and can be easily carried on while traveling. You can easily connect and disconnect from the replicator and docking station, without turning off the PC. An inconvenience was found with the hot-swap drives of the Toshiba Portege 8100, which use the Windows 2000 system.

This laptop is not very fast, and its battery doesn’t have too much life (2:43). Toshiba Portege 7200 weights 4.5 pounds, which is similar with the IBM ThinkPad 570E from the same category. You will benefit from a dvd-drive, a floppy disk drive, volume control, speakers, a complete set of i/o ports, and Ethernet adapter. There is also an external floppy disk drive and a port replicator. The Toshiba Portege 7200 has an average performance, but is better than the IBM’s ThinkPad 570E.

Sony Laptop Compared To Toshiba

Published by LaptopsDistrict, on Jun 11 2010, in the categories: Toshiba Laptops

We have already established that the desktop system has been slowly replaced by laptops or notebooks, due to the mobility and artistry that laptops over. Having settled the supremacy of the laptop over the desktop system, it is now time to continue our permanent search for the perfect laptop that is the laptop that suits you best.

The topic of the day is a comparison between Sony and Toshiba, two of the best and most famous brands on the market, which one shall we choose? They both have pros and cons, still one must be better, let’s see which that is.

Sony has great design features, I for one love Sony, always stylish, beautiful LCD colors and cool external components. The Sony laptops are manufactured in Quanta, that means great quality and furthermore originality. I think this is the best way to describe a Sony laptop: ORIGINAL. You can always tell a genuine Sony from a fake one.

sony-laptop-compared-to-toshiba

Nevertheless, the originality feature is not always in the best interest of the client, because due to their originality, Sony parts are a bit hard to find and also expensive, or you might get „ lucky” and they will not send you the parts you need but ask you to send your laptop and they will fix the problem (I am talking here about the laptops that are still under warranty, because after the warranty expires the problem is even bigger). But do not feel at ease because in most cases the bill is outrageous (although for laptops under warranty the costumer does not need to pay for service until the laptop problems are due to the costumer’s fault). Another weak point with Sony is the battery life is kind of short therefore restraining your mobility.

sony-laptop-compared-to-toshiba-2

Let’s see how Toshiba manages? The screen features are not as better as those of Sony, but it has a longer battery life and due to the Japanese fabrication the parts are not as hard to find or as expensive, and there are no warranty complaints, as I heard.  Therefore are you having problems with Toshiba components no worries? If they are under warranty they will change it without problems, and if not you can rebuild you hole laptop with parts that you buy yourself, so respect for Toshiba for this! When it comes to price Toshiba is more accessible. Still Toshiba tends to overhead faster than Sony after a long use, so that’s a bad one for Toshiba.

Nevertheless the choice is yours between Sony and Toshiba. You might not have problems regardless the laptop you buy, your might just have. As I said in a previous article, when buying a laptop you must consider your needs and afterwards adapt your needs to what you what to buy. There will always be pros and cons no matter what you choose, still I am curious what would you choose: the Sony originality or Toshiba’s practical approach? I would choose Sony regardless of its weak points, but this is only my opinion, it does not have to be yours as well.

Toshiba Tecra Laptop Slow

Published by LaptopsDistrict, on Jun 10 2010, in the categories: Toshiba Laptops

Toshiba is a well known and respected brand. A leader on the market, it offers a suitable solution when it comes to the latest technological gadgets. The Japanese brand has extended throughout the world offering innovation and artistry for all.

the Toshiba Tecra line is a great solution for your business, thus it combines great performance for multitasking with an elegant design and hot features, a great way for those workaholics with lots to do and short time. The most interesting feature is the eco-smart design, therefore Toshiba is not only perfect for your business but also for the environment. They come with genuine Windows 7 (pre-installed), so do no bother to install another operational system, except if you are not familiar with Windows 7.

We have emphasized the good features of Toshiba Tecra Laptops, let us focus on the not so good ones, because let us face it, every gadget has its good and not so good parts, and it is best to know the weak points as well as the strong ones. I have been researching around the internet to find the weak points, as I mentioned above and the most frequent one is that the HDD makes some problems and runs a bit slow.  If you are „lucky” enough to get a virus in your system, then your system is practically dead, because it dramatically slow all its features down.

toshiba-tecra-laptop-slow

Even after  you have re-formatted the system it does not seem do help. Many have complained that after cleaning the system and even re-installing Windows the system was still running slow, therefore the only answer is that the hardware has a problem. Although Toshiba is well known for good hard features, you may just be the lucky one to get a laptop with a hard problem.

Another issue with Tecra, which is worse I guess is that when trying to listen to music the quality of the music is very bad. Of course, the solution would be deleting the old sound driver and installing a new one, if you do not have The genuine drivers (you should have received them in the package with you laptop), then it is a must that you download the driver from the official Toshiba site ( there are free ones as well as those you have to pay for, it is you choice nevertheless), so you avoid other surprises (like trojan or even worse  spy wear).

toshiba-tecra-laptop-slow

If this does not work, and the problem persists then we go back to the problem mentioned above: hardware failure. Some of the components from the main board may affect the sound quality if they do not properly  work.  Another good solution would be the Toshiba recovery  CD, that is if you have one, but still if we are talking about a hardware failure then, there is nothing  else to do than change  the laptop.

The conclusion is that in spite of the original design and feature, the artistry there might be some problems and ToshibaTecra laptop may run slow. Still you may one the lucky one that will not have any problems and you Toshiba Tecra laptop will be the best of the best. Hope for the best!

Toshiba Vs Compaq Laptops

Published by LaptopsDistrict, on Jun 10 2010, in the categories: Toshiba Laptops

Teach that person to use the Internet

And they won't bother you for weeks"

Nowadays the internet has become a way of living, a necessity, a must, an addiction. It is part of our daily lives and sometimes we do not conceive a world without it, without technology. I for one think that the world would be a bit harder without the internet facilities, and I am truly glad for its invention because without it my life would be more complicated and my job would take more.

A good job requires the use of the internet and of a good computer as well, therefore I am not willing to settle for anything less than the best in technology. First of all the best choice between a laptop and a desktop is definitely a laptop, because it’s the best solution when having to move from one place to the other or to work fast to meet a deadline. We have agreed then, that the best choice is a laptop, but there are so many to choose from, where to start? What is the best option? Which suits our necessities best? And let us not forget another important issue, which has the best price? After thinking a lot and I came face to face to a hard decision: Toshiba vs. Compaq laptop?

toshiba-vs-compaq-laptops

At a first look Toshiba seems better, the brand itself being one of the best on the market. Nevertheless Compaq is not that bad and some of its features may even be better than that e from Toshiba. Let’s take for example Toshiba M50 and Compaq Presario. Let us compare 2 gadgets with similar features from the two brands mentioned above.  They both have 256 Ram DDR and 40Gig HDD. Toshiba is better build than Compaq, because it has a 5400 drive,whereas Compaq only a 4200 drive . That is not a big difference bur still a difference. Still Compaq has better specs an a better look, from my point of view, but still the look is not that important if it dose not do its job well.

The biggest problem with Toshiba is the fact that it runs hot as I heard, so at one point it may slow down a little and make some strange noise. On the other hand Compaq is very silent and, as far as I know, it has no heating problems. A plus for Compaq is if you are gamer, than the Compaq is the best solution, because the Mobility Radeon 9200 is up 50 - 60% better than the Toshiba.Compaq has some issues when installing Windows, without its original drivers it is a hard thing to do, but still not impossible, so good luck!The price for the both of them is about the same, give or take 150-180 $, it depends on the accessories you want to buy as well.

toshiba-vs-compaq-laptops-2

Because I am not an IT specialist myself it is hard to decide which is best: Toshiba vs. Compaq laptop? Nevertheless when choosing a computer you should first think of your needs and the way you are going to use that computer, the many you are willing to spend and only afterwards think of a brand, and start comparing until you find the one that suits you best.May be I am a bit subjective, but this is the best way for me, it is for you to see if it is the best for you as well, or it is not.

Toshiba Laptop Wireless Fn Button Location

Published by LaptopsDistrict, on Jun 07 2010, in the categories: Toshiba Laptops

The FN key was introduced mainly for laptops. The FN key gives the user shortcuts when pressed in combination with other keys, so the user doesn’t have to enter Control Panel or other applications for modifying the laptop settings. Nowadays, every laptop has this function, but the combination options differ from laptop to laptop.

For Toshiba laptops, here is the standard list of fn combination options:
  • Fn + F1 will blank the screen to prevent others from accessing your data
  • Fn + F2 -the Power Save Mode is displayed in a dialog box.
  • Fn + F3- Standby;
  • Fn + F4- Hibernation.
  • Fn + F5 to change the active display device;
  • Fn + F6 decreases the display brightness;
  • Fn + F7 increases the display brightness;
  • Fn + F8 to select which type of wireless communication you want to use; a dialog box will appear for you to select Bluetooth or Wireless LAN functions if both available.
  • Fn+F9 enables or disables the Touch Pad function.

    toshiba-laptop-wireless-fn-button-location

  • Fn + F10 or Fn + F11 to access the integrated keypad. (when activated, the keys with gray markings on the bottom edge become numeric keypad keys (Fn + F11) or cursor control keys-F10);
  • Fn + F12 (ScrLock) to lock the cursor on a specific line.
  • Fn + ESC in a Windows environment turns sound on or off.
  • Fn + Enter to simulate Enter or the enhanced keyboard's numeric keypad.
  • Fn + Ctrl to simulate the enhanced keyboard's right Ctrl key.
  • Fn + space keys change the display resolution. Each time when you press these hot keys, the display resolution changes as follows: The available resolution depends on the model. With WXGA+, you can change the resolution between 800 × 600 and 1440 × 900 pixels. With WUXGA, between 800 × 600 and 1920 × 1200 pixels.
  • Fn+1 decreases the size of the icons on the desktop or in applications
  • Fn+2 increases the size of icons.

    toshiba-laptop-wireless-fn-button-location-2

    Many have encountered problems with the Toshiba laptop FN wireless button. As we stated before, the combination to change the wireless status is FN+F8. If both Bluetooth and Wireless LAN functions are available, you will have to choose the one you desire. For those who have problems with this procedure, we will try to give some suggestions so they can use the Fn key without any issues.

    The first thing is to reinstall the VAP (value added package) and the Toshiba Flash Card utility. The Flash Card utility is the one that controls the FN buttons and should control the FN+F8 button as well. It’s mandatory that these to work properly. Download the right ones for your Toshiba laptop and reinstall them. Do not use ConfigFree in order to connect the notebook to WLan. The operating system’s own configuration will work very well, so you don’t have to worry. If this doesn’t work, it means you have a problem with the wireless LAN package. Try to reinstall the driver. You can search for the best drivers online, and we suggest the online Toshiba Support Center. There you will find all you might need. You have to go through the filter and you will find the latest drivers for your laptop. Even if you thing the drivers are working properly, you have nothing to loose by doing this.

    It should be very easy to use the Fn key and it certainly is very useful. The Toshiba laptop FN wireless button makes your life easier, as well as the other combinations.
  • Toshiba Laptop Power Cord

    Published by LaptopsDistrict, on Jun 07 2010, in the categories: Toshiba Laptops

    Toshiba is one of the leading manufacturers in the laptop business. The main description for the laptop brand is low cost; Toshiba says it with pride and it seams to get them many fans and even more users for their products. Many of their laptops are for beginners and “do-it-yourself-errs”. This being said, we salute those who want to do all the repairs possible in their own home for knowledge and, why not, for saving money, because a low cost brand is about saving money at the expense of work for the user.

    Many have encountered problems with the power supply line; this doesn’t apply only for Toshiba users, but for any laptop user. One of the most common issues on Toshiba laptops is the power cord, especially when the user plugs it in not only in the best positions for the cord. There are two types of problems you can face when your laptop is plugged in and it’s still dead: the AC adapter or the power cord. If the laptop power adapter LED is not lit and the cord is firmly seated in both the transformer and the wall outlet, you most probably have issues with the AC adapter; this may be a problem that requires a new AC adapter because it’s very hard to troubleshoot it.

    toshiba-laptop-power-cord

    If the AC adapter’s LED is lid on and your laptop still isn’t getting power, then you have to wiggle the power cord in the laptop outlet; if you will see the power LED lid sometimes when you are doing this, it means the power cord is your problem. We will show you how to repair it so you don’t have to replace it.

    When repairing the power cord on your Toshiba laptop, you should buy a new connector; this is not a part you can repair, at least not easily. You should look for one in store, but bring the old one with you so you can be sure of the compatibility. The inside and outside diameter have to be an exact match, so you might even want to bring the laptop along with you. This piece shouldn’t be expensive, so it’s not worth the cost of repairing.

    toshiba-laptop-power-cord-2

    The length of the cable running from the power adapter to the laptop is shielded coaxial (the inner conductor attached to the inner part of the barrel connector and the outer part serving as ground). Patiently remove the plastic covering of cable using a razor; it’s not the fastest procedure, but you avoid other trouble. You will see the inner (yellow) of the laptop power cord soldered to the center tab of the barrel connector, and the braid soldered to the outer tab. Work a little tape around one of the tabs (but not to much so you can get the shell on) to be sure they don’t touch and short out, because you can really damage your laptop by not doing this.

    Once you have repaired it, the power cord end from your Toshiba laptop is more fragile than in first place, so you will have to face this procedure more often than with the original cable. From now one it’s simpler to replace it because the connection between the power cord and the end of it is not as strong. You can even carry a replacement end around with you, in case the problem comes at a bad time; you can travel with a spare replacement end because it doesn’t take much room and it may save you work sometimes.
