Unlike the delete option which deletes the selected images, cutting option (crop) erases all non-selected images. Make a selection of images and click on Crop frames:

2 – Speed up or slow down video

BB FlashBack can accelerate a portion of the video or contrary to an idle.

To select an idle target images and pull down the Actions menu / Movie speed / slow down selected frames:

In the settings box you can specify the number of repeated images (which has the effect of creating an idle):

The length of your movie it is extended. The reverse procedure applies if you want to accelerate a portion of the video (the film is so shortened accordingly).

3 – Add text frames

Here is one of the options that I find most interesting of this software. Adding text boxes to insert comments making more explicit the video.

Place the cursor movement in the time code where you want to add a comment and click the Add button text:

The window insert text appears. For now we focus on the Properties tab

1 – Start by typing the text of your choice in the dialog box ad hoc.

2 – Choose the frame type desired. Here I choose the type bubble rounded corners.

3 – Select a style (you can later create your own styles easily).

4 – Determine the time display on the screen of your text. By default it is set at one second, which is clearly insufficient. Prefer a minimum of 3 seconds.

5 – Confirm by clicking OK.

Your text appears:

If you want to modify double-click it. For now we will position it correctly. Click on the text frame to select it, hold down the mouse button, drag it to the desired location

Then click on the tip of the bubble (I forget the exact name;)) to position it correctly:

Start reading: your text will appear 3 seconds then disappears.

4 – Insert breaks

If you want to pause the video where first create a text frame. For our example we will use the previously created.

Double-click the text to open the properties window. In the Properties tab select the option Break movie did this text box Until mouse clicked:

Confirm by clicking OK and start playing. Your text appears and the video pauses. A mouse click relaunch the movie:

Notice in the upper left pause button. You can customize this button to create your own graphics software. Remember that it should be formatted. Bmp (bitmap).

I created the button below that prompts the user to click to continue:

For use instead of the default button, go to Edit menu / Pause graphic / set break surf height up your bitmap graphic to select it. Start playback from the beginning:

To place the button also go to the Edit menu / Pause graphic / set pause graphic position. The button appears. Click and drag it wherever you wish:

III. Conclusion of the tutorial
This 3rd and final game is over. You now know the essential test in good conditions BB FlashBack.

Be aware that you can also add sound, images, hide the mouse pointer captured and even re-record the movements of this pointer if you are not satisfied with those of the catch. I’ll let you discover these options, but of course you can find us on the forum if necessary

Playback Tab Controls (playback controls):

It will display the playback buttons in addition to your flash file. You can choose one of the models pre-installed (pre-installed toolbars) or choose a custom (Customised).

You can also specify the location of this bar reading: top (Top) or bottom (Bottom) of the video.

More Tab (Other):

I left the default options: play automatically on opening (Automatically When play movie opened), no looping (Stop at end – do not loop playback), clicks the mouse is highlighted in the film ( Highlight mouse clicks in movie).

When your settings are complete click Export. One or two warning messages appear: click OK every time. When export is complete, a window asks if you want your movie visoinner. Click Yes, your browser opens with your flash file:):

III. Conclusion of the tutorial

As I stated in the introduction of the first tutorial, you saw for yourself that BB FlashBack is quite easy to use even if it is in English.

We have discussed here that its basic functions. It offers indeed other options that are especially interesting as we will examine a third tutorial.

This is the third part of the tutorial devoted to BBFlashBack. After installation and configuration, then the first use, we focus today on some advanced features.

II. Explanations

1 – Working on the pictures (delete, insert …)

Deleting images:

To move to your liking in the video using the cursor movement:

The numbers are indicators of time of your movie in seconds.

Scrolling through my test movie I see that the first 62 frames (2.50 seconds) are useless because nothing happens. In the document window, highlight (red circle) shows me the performance of the first click of the mouse during capture. Leaving some time mouse cursor moving on a window appraraît to provide information on the currently displayed image (F: 62 frame = 62, T: 00:02:50 = 0 minutes, 2 seconds, 50 hundredths of seconds )

I decided to delete the first 2 seconds. I move the cursor to the time code (2.0). In the lower part of the time line, where each image is represented by a rectangle, the display is being shown in red. To make sure I’m exactly 2 seconds to timecode I leave the mouse pointer a few moments below the red rectangle. The information window that appears tells me that I am in the right place:

To select images to delete, click the red rectangle and drag the mouse until the beginning of the video. The selected area is displayed in red:

Then click the Delete button supprmier frame for the selection:

Confirm your order by clicking OK in the confirmation message:

That’s as simple as that;). Come on, even Flash animation:

We will now examine a little more quickly to other possible operations on images.

Inserting images:

Place the cursor move to where you insert images and dérirez click the Insert button frame. In the parameter setting dialog box specify the number of images, the duration in seconds (here 1 second = 25 frames, because the frequency of the film is 25 frames per second):

Select the images to merge and click the Merge button frames. This option will replace the series of images selected by the last of your selection:

Select the image to split and click the Split button frame. This option allows better decompose certain movements or actions by adding images not previously displayed. The duration of the film it is extended by one frame for each click. This is the reverse of the option to merge

Start a new record and this time choose Region or windows then click Continue:

If you left the option checked a Reminder appears (see the first tutorial, part configuration)

Click OK. The capture window appears. Once you have clicked the red button all that happens within this window will be captured:

You can move the window by clicking in the upper left corner:

Or resize using the handles of the frame:

Or set the size yourself by clicking on the buttons height / width and entering your own values:

Finally you can click on the selector window and drag it to the application window you want to capture. The selection frame will automatically adapt to the target window:

Otherwise, you stop recording and watch your video in the same way that full screen mode.

3 – The software interface

So we’re back in the video editor of BB FlashBack:

We find the usual menu toolbar with the left navigation buttons in your document (you can linger only on the condition of this by the discovery of the software: Learn how to start reading, return to the starting point, go to the end, forward or backward one image (frame): this is not so complicated you’ll see:)).

Below you are representing your video timeline in time. In its upper part a cursor indicates the progress of the video. Totally right of this scrollbar is indicated the total time of your capture.At the bottom each image is represented by a rectangle. The red rectangle indicates the currently selected image.

The largest part is the document window that is displayed in your video .

For now we are just going to make a simple export to have a workable file of our catch: for now you have a file with the extension. Fbr usable only in BB FlashBack.

4 – Exporting our capture in a format

A window appears and prompts you to choose your export format:

BB FlashBack allows you to export to four formats:

- Invlure Flash video in a web page for example. This format we chose here.

- WMV: can be viewed with Windows Media Video

- AVI, so you can export if the right codec divix is installed on your machine.

- And finally you have the opportunity to create one. Exe file that contains a small player free the software with your video.

So choose Flash then click OK.

The Options window includes a number of tabs. We focus only on certain at this point.

Compression tab:

I left the default settings but you can adjust the compression ratio to reduce or increase the size of the final file.

Video tab:

I reduced the frame rate by half to reduce the file (which is an example at the end of tutorial). I also reduced the size of the video to 80% of its original size, always in trouble to get a file pretty light but acceptable quality.

You will do different tests to find the settings that best fit your porjet and your expectations.

I spend the Audio tab because I did not put his. I also spend tab Autoscroll which reduces the size of the video. When reading the final film, the video will be positioned automatically according to the location of the mouse capture. I turn finally HTML Template tab: your final Flash file is created a file with the extension. Html you can launch your browser to view your flash file.

Sound Tab

BB FlashBack provides the ability to record sounds or computer (PC sounds) or sound (your voice for example) from a microphone connected to your computer (microphone).

Tab Keystrokes (keystrokes):

Uncheck the option Capture keystrokes if you want the keystrokes are not recorded. I recommend you uncheck Replace password with characters ‘*’ for reasons of protecting your passwords of course;).

Tab Hotkey (keyboard shortcuts):

By default there is no shortcut. I have identified three (start recording, pause, stop) so that I can hide the toolbar at BB FlashBack capture full screen (we’ll see this later in the tutorial on first use) To define a keyboard shortcut place the cursor in the field of your choice and press the key or keys you want to use. Be careful not to define shortcuts used by another application as those defined for BB FlashBack will have priority.

Tab File size

Here you can limit the duration of the file and its weight.

Record Mode tab (recording method):

You may notice that option Capture driver is invalid. To test your system and eventually make available other capture modes, click the Test button at the bottom of the window:

I left the default options results in the tests suited me.

Tab Miscelleanous (various):

- Reminders: windows tips appear when you launch the application or when you start a capture.You can disable them by unchecking the two boxes.

Advanced tab (advanced):

Here you can adjust the compression ratio of videos (I left 7 by default), make it possible to search for text in the movie (useful if you capture keystrokes) and adjust the frequency of keyframes (I left setting to Normal).

Here we toured the main options for this software.
III. Conclusion of the tutorial

We have examined in the previous tutorial the installation and configuration of BB FlashBack. It is now time for the festivities:) making our first video captures.

II. Explanations
1 – Record a video full screen

To start recording right-click on the application icon in the taskbar and select Record:

1 – Select if required destination folder for your video file (default files are stored in the directory C: Documents and Settings [User] My Documents BB FlashBack Movies) and name your file

2 – Select the area of capture. Here I choose full screen (Whole screen)

3 – If you want (but it is useless if you’ve followed the first tutorial:)) click Options to configure the software. By cons, as we have chosen the capture full screen, I suggest you uncheck if Show Toolbar recorder for capturing a small toolbar BB FlashBack is displayed and captured:).If you have not already done so please choose a keyboard shortcut to stop recording (see the first tutorial).

4 – Finally click Record to start recording:

So, from now on all your actions are captured. When finished, right click on the icon and select Stop, or better, use the keyboard shortcut to stop recording:

A window appears and offers to watch your video. Click Yes to open the video editor of BB FlashBack:

Make the capture of a window or region

BB FlashBack is a video capture software screen pretty straightforward, provided you know a little English) and offers some interesting options (in my opinion at least:)).

It is available in version 1.5.3 of 10 July 2006 on the day of creation of this tutorial. This is a shareware version fully operational for a period of 14 days which can take full advantage of the software, only a logo in the upper right corner pointing out that the catch was made with an unregistered version. The logo disappears of course in the registered version.

Click on the link below to go to the download page editor (Blueberry Software) and save the installer on your hard disk:

Once on the page click on Download BB FlashBack and follow the instructions to save the file on your hard disk:

When the download is complete run the program bbflbk.exe:

Accept the license agreement by confirming the appropriate box and then click Next :

In both the following window click Next (I recommend you change the default installation directory):

Click Next again and wait until the installation is finished:

We are finally at the end (not that complicated not;)). Make sure the Run option BB FlashBack is now checked and click Finish:

Close the window that appears, click on Close:

2 – Configuration of BB FlashBack

The software is now ready for use. An icon in the taskbar telling us he’s running. Right click on it and select Options to configure BB FlashBack:

We will examine each tab. However I will not dwell on each option, only those essential (well the ones I considered essential:)).

Display tab (Display):

- Monitor to record: if you use multiple screens select the one you want to capture.

- Change resolution while recording: allows you to adjust the resolution when capturing. I left it unchecked. The program will then use the resolution of my system. If you want to set this option, leave checked Restore original settings after recordings, on pain of losing your personal system settings:).

- To Reduce movie file size: I left the default settings. They reduce the weight of video capture.Note however that you must uncheck the latter if you intend to capture the movement of windows.

- To tidy up the movie: you can hide the program icon in the taskbar at a renregistrement by checking the option Do not show icon BB FlashBack Recorder DURING recording. You can also hide your desktop icons while recording by checking Hide desktop icons. Please be aware that a little bug seems to hit the software on this point because the capture desktop icons do not reappear: x (at least that’s what happened to me). If you also experience the problem, right click on your desktop and select Arrange Icons / Show Desktop Icons (be handling twice: first to uncheck the option, the second for revalidation. Only then the icons back. Phew:)).
