Choosing the cheapest laptop isn’t always the best. This is a list a things you should look for in a good deal
- Memory:
Memory or RAM is a component that stores the data being processed on your computer.Netbooks equipped only with 1GB of RAM, it is enough. For a computer “classic”, choose 2GB or more for comfortable use.
*
- Interface Connection:
USB ports (3 or more ideally) and mini jacks for headphones or speakers (optical if possible) are now essential. The presence of Ethernet jacks (RJ45 Network), e-SATA, FireWire, Express Card will depend on individual needs.

- GUI:
The least you can expect is the presence of a VGA connector for connecting an external monitor. Other more modern interfaces have also emerged: HDMI to connect a TV and, much rarer, the DisplayPort for connecting a monitor.
*
- Optical Drive:
Most computers have DVD burners. The Blu-ray to play HD movies are still a small minority. They settled gradually on high-end machines and media oriented.
*
- Battery:
From 1:20 to certain computers 18 inches to over 5 hours for netbooks, autonomy varies widely depending on models. If you plan to watch “Ben Hur” in the train, choose a model with a big battery, small components and a small diagonal display.
*
- Card Reader:

All or almost have them. The difference is the speed of transfer and formats. At a minimum, they must read SD and SDHC (high capacity). Everything else is a bonus. For photographers, some computers will accept CF. Look well, they exist.
*
- Fingerprint Reader:
Accessory for some, essential for others, the fingerprint reader invites itself to our computers. No more passwords, are your fingers that you identify.
*
- Weight:
The fateful barrier model is transportable and mobile phones certainly to 2 Kg 13-inch models are often able to cross this barrier or approach and the boundary between the mobile and transportable.
3 – Accessories
Speaker Kit
Audiophile, you will not have very long the speakers of your laptop. Even with the best configuration in 5.1 (6 speakers with 1 for low) does not satisfy the demanding music lover. The solution, connect a speaker set with external mini jack output of your machine.
Keyboard and Mouse
The laptops all have a keyboard and a touchpad which serves as a mouse. For occasional use, is sufficient. If you must work daily on your laptop, we recommend that you purchase a keyboard and mouse “classic” desktop. Plugged into USB on your machine, they provide user comfort and undeniable ability to get away from the screen of your computer.
High Capacity Batteries
Optional on some models, high-capacity batteries are available. To choose them, we must rely on their ability milliamp hours and voltage. The first times the second gives you a figure in watts / hour. Plus it is high, the longer the battery life. Attention to specify the number of cells. If it gives an indication of Independence (3 cell vs 6 cell for example), it does not give you the capacity of each cell and therefore the real autonomy of the battery.
TV Tuner
Rarely integrated natively on laptops, they may take the form of USB, or PCI Express Cards.Essential for watching TV on your computer unless you go through the channels broadcast on the Internet. To avoid travel to each channel change, make sure to take a model with remote control.
