As always, it is better to have a clear idea of its real needs before embarking on the purchase of a laptop. Will I use it on the move or will it intended to replace a desktop computer? I devoted myself to the joys of video editing and 3D modeling or I shall simply surf the web and send emails? Am I a gambler or a supporter of design? To help you in your quest, we selected several categories relating to your use of your computer, the price criterion is often linked to such use.

On the eve of the launch of Windows 7, also know as possible, on payment of postage, ask Microsoft a version of the new opus of its operating system. In order to buy the best laptop you must understand what computers are all about

Understanding computer vocabulary is generally the main difficulty faced by potential buyers of personal computers. Contrary to TV, for which selection criteria are quite limited, the choice of a computer is to choose each of its components and know its characteristics.

This folder does not attempt to make sense of all the abbreviations computer (since many manufacturers have their own terminology), but he tries to help people better understand the key components of a computer, to explain the operation and give the main features.
Presentation of the computer

best-laptop-toshiba

Thus, Jack Pernet Associate of letters, then professor of Latin philology at the Sorbonne, April 16, 1955 proposed the word “Computer” by stating that the word “computer” was an adjective meaning from Littre “Gods tidying in the world. ” Thus, he explained that the concept of “ordering” was quite appropriate.
Computer Types

Any machine capable of handling binary data can be classified as computer, but the terms “computer” is sometimes confused with the notion of personal computer (PC stands for personal computer), type the computer present on the market. But there are many other types of computers (the following list is not exhaustive):

Constitution of the computer that will help you with understading and choosing

A computer is a set of modular electronic components, that is to say, the components can be replaced by other components which may have different characteristics, able to run computer programs. There is talk of “hardware” to refer to all elements of the computer hardware and “software” to refer to the software part.

best-laptop-toshiba-2

The hardware components of the computer are structured around a main card with a few integrated circuits and many electronic components such as capacitors, resistors, etc.. All these components are soldered onto the board and are connected by the connections of the printed circuit and a large number of connectors: This card is called the motherboard.

The motherboard is housed in an enclosure (or chassis), with slots for storage devices on the front, and buttons for controlling the power of the computer and a number of LEDs to verifyoperating status of the device and hard disk activity. On the rear, the housing has openings in vis-à-vis the expansion cards and input / output interfaces connected to the motherboard.

Finally, the housing houses a power supply (commonly called food), to provide a stable and continuous power to all components of the computer. The power is then converted to alternating current electricity network (220 or 110 volts) into a DC voltage of 5 volts for the computer components and 12 volts for some internal devices (disks, CD-ROM …). The power supply is characterized by its power, which determines the number of devices that the computer is able to contribute. The power of the power supply is usually between 200 and 450 Watts.

A tutorial how to repair a overheating Toshiba laptop

Introduction to the cooling of a laptop
Warning: we can not in any way be held liable for any damages you may cause to your laptop by following this tutorial, which was made for information purposes only. You are responsible for what you do.

In this two-part tutorial, we’ll see how to disassemble a laptop to fix the problem of a laptop that overheats.

Caution, however, the example is done with a Dell Inspiron laptop, and every laptop has its own architecture. You will certainly not find the items exactly the same place, but I hope this article will help you locate them anyway if you’re ready to disassemble your laptop.
Regarding the laptop in this example, it gets very hot and it makes the PC switches itself off sometimes, probably because it reached the maximum level of security and temperature is warming up (it = s ’off). We will check the interior, put some thermal paste on the processor, dusting it off, and raise the laptop to allow air to be expelled from the pc correctly.

toshiba-laptop-repair

II. Explanations
1. Remove and open the laptop

The first thing to do would be to remove the battery from the laptop to remove any power on the one hand, and because it takes in most other cases. To do this, most of the time you have to push a small locket (white rectangle on the image below) and pull the battery at the same time to release it from its location.

Then he will need to unscrew all the screws you see under the laptop one by one (help yourself with a magnetized screwdriver or another magnet to get them out, to keep your nerves for the rest :-) .

Then unscrew and remove the cover containing strips RAM.

Then you should see another door containing the hard drive of the laptop. On most PCs, it is like below the trap of memory (see also the tutorial to change a memory card on laptop), but it is on the side (front). There is a trap to unscrew to get this:

Here we see a “tab” which is used to pull the drive out of the slot. Remove the hard disk.

toshiba-laptop-repair-2

Then if you have removed all the screws from the bottom, you should almost be able to separate the top and bottom of the hull of the laptop.
I say “almost” because for me it is not yet the case.

Note: do not force any to separate the two parties because there are cables to unplug and tablecloths inside. If you force you will break them.

In fact I still have screws on the back of the pc. These are the two screws that secure the screen as we shall see later. It must also remove.

If you look on the back of the PC, there are even other parts to remove. The output VGA (monitor) is attached by two screws at each end specific, we’ll have to unscrew them with a wrench.

Once this is done, return the pc screen and fold completely flat to put it. Then he’ll have to disengage the two “bridges” that serve plastic cover above the visor fittings. Go gently with a screwdriver for example, and it should be removed.
In this example, they are connected with the cache of lights and power button, it will therefore have to unclip everything.

Finally, the cache is full.

Then there are still screws removed in the cache.

There is also a screw that holds the shell in the center of the metal plate under the keyboard (the keyboard that no longer hold, you can return it without problem).

And these are the lower and upper hulls will finally be able to separate. But separate them very carefully, looking inside your PC because you’ll need to unplug cables at the same time: the water and the keyboard cable from the screen include.

Your laptop is then ripped open.

Cheapest Price Toshiba Laptop

March 29th, 2010

Choosing the cheapest laptop isn’t always the best. This is a list a things you should look for in a good deal

- Memory:

Memory or RAM is a component that stores the data being processed on your computer.Netbooks equipped only with 1GB of RAM, it is enough. For a computer “classic”, choose 2GB or more for comfortable use.
*
- Interface Connection:

USB ports (3 or more ideally) and mini jacks for headphones or speakers (optical if possible) are now essential. The presence of Ethernet jacks (RJ45 Network), e-SATA, FireWire, Express Card will depend on individual needs.

cheapest-price-toshiba-laptop

- GUI:

The least you can expect is the presence of a VGA connector for connecting an external monitor. Other more modern interfaces have also emerged: HDMI to connect a TV and, much rarer, the DisplayPort for connecting a monitor.
*
- Optical Drive:

Most computers have DVD burners. The Blu-ray to play HD movies are still a small minority. They settled gradually on high-end machines and media oriented.
*
- Battery:

From 1:20 to certain computers 18 inches to over 5 hours for netbooks, autonomy varies widely depending on models. If you plan to watch “Ben Hur” in the train, choose a model with a big battery, small components and a small diagonal display.
*
- Card Reader:

cheapest-price-toshiba-laptop-2

All or almost have them. The difference is the speed of transfer and formats. At a minimum, they must read SD and SDHC (high capacity). Everything else is a bonus. For photographers, some computers will accept CF. Look well, they exist.
*
- Fingerprint Reader:

Accessory for some, essential for others, the fingerprint reader invites itself to our computers. No more passwords, are your fingers that you identify.
*
- Weight:

The fateful barrier model is transportable and mobile phones certainly to 2 Kg 13-inch models are often able to cross this barrier or approach and the boundary between the mobile and transportable.

3 – Accessories
Speaker Kit

Audiophile, you will not have very long the speakers of your laptop. Even with the best configuration in 5.1 (6 speakers with 1 for low) does not satisfy the demanding music lover. The solution, connect a speaker set with external mini jack output of your machine.
Keyboard and Mouse

The laptops all have a keyboard and a touchpad which serves as a mouse. For occasional use, is sufficient. If you must work daily on your laptop, we recommend that you purchase a keyboard and mouse “classic” desktop. Plugged into USB on your machine, they provide user comfort and undeniable ability to get away from the screen of your computer.
High Capacity Batteries

Optional on some models, high-capacity batteries are available. To choose them, we must rely on their ability milliamp hours and voltage. The first times the second gives you a figure in watts / hour. Plus it is high, the longer the battery life. Attention to specify the number of cells. If it gives an indication of Independence (3 cell vs 6 cell for example), it does not give you the capacity of each cell and therefore the real autonomy of the battery.
TV Tuner

Rarely integrated natively on laptops, they may take the form of USB, or PCI Express Cards.Essential for watching TV on your computer unless you go through the channels broadcast on the Internet. To avoid travel to each channel change, make sure to take a model with remote control.

How Are Toshiba Laptops

March 29th, 2010

We will be comparing toshiba to other brands.

Play – For the Gamer

Playing on a laptop amounts to solving an equation with two unknowns: screen definition and power adapter. Plus the screen is high definition (1920×1080 pixels 1280×800 pixels cons for example), plus the graphics card needs to be powerful. The CPU is important but not essential.A dual core (2 cores) is more than enough in this type of configuration. To this can add details such as the presence of 5.1 speakers if you do not like helmets. For gaming, the acquisition of a mouse is imperative.

Multimedia – Video and Audio

For multimedia use (advanced video editing, mixing music …) should not hesitate to move to a model with 4 cores. Many programs for amateurs or professionals are able to cut the work to be done in several streams. Streams that can be processed in parallel by different processor cores.Attention to have 4 cores instead of 2 does not necessarily divide the computing time by two.Nevertheless, the work is done much faster.

2 – Understanding
The real useful features

*
- Screen size:

Two factors should be taken into consideration for the screen, the diagonal and definition. The first varies from 7 to 22 inches and determines the size of your computer. The second runs from 1024 x 600 to 1920 x 1200 pixels and indicates the amount of information that the screen can display simultaneously.
*
- Processor

The processor is the brains of the computer. Choose a model consisting of 2 or more cores used for two things: use multiple applications in parallel and accelerate the computation time (since the software is able to use multiple cores in parallel).
*
- Chipset

The graphics chipset calculates the image displayed on your screen. Anecdotal for desktop use, this item makes sense in the 3D calculations. To play in good conditions, shun the entry level model and choose a mid / high end.
*
- Hard disk:

It is the memory of your computer. More hard drive capacity, the higher you can store photos, videos and files of all kinds. Ask at least 160 GB If this capacity is insufficient to run, do not throw your machine and are buying an external hard drive.

Other features for further

*
