Disc Burner Or Software Not Found On Toshiba Laptop

May 28th, 2010

Looking through forums when searching for problems with Toshiba, we found something interesting that does not seem like this only to Toshiba users: inability of iTunes to burn disks from a point on. When the message “disk burner or software not found” pops up, most people go crazy; you really need to burn a disk and you are unable to finish your task at work or an important project for school.

In fact, most computers that use iTunes to burn disks are company computers. Most people have come to realize that the best software to write CDs and DVDs are Nero, Audacity, CDburnerXPpro and IMGburn. Usually, once this message occurs, not many of us want to deal with it and turn to another software. If you wish to do this, we will put a link for every application written above:

CDex – opensource – cdexos.sourceforge.net
Audacity – opensource – audacity.sourceforge.net
CDburnerXPpro – freeware – www.cdburnerxp.se
Infrarrecorder – opensource – infrarecorder.sourceforge.net
IMGburn – freeware – imgburn.com

When the boss yells at you that you must use iTunes, you really have to fix it. One of the best solutions (that might fix not only the disk burning issue, but more problems than you might think) is driving a repair install of the operating system. While you are doing this, you might want to reinstall the latest drivers as well. When using Windows, many applications can go wrong and even crash your system. This might fix more problems than you think, especially if you haven’t reinstalled it in some time. Also, 32 drivers don’t work great on 64 bit operating systems, so be sure you take this in consideration (correct software is crucial for any computer and user).

Another thing you should try is to download some additional software that might fix the problem. Most people who encountered this issue are Vista 64 bit users. As you might have been hearing, Vista is a very unstable operating system and, with all its gadgets, even incomplete. You have to download two drivers that did the job for most: GEARS drivers and SPTD driver. You can find the Gears driver at this link: http://www.gearsoftware.com/wiki/ind…e=SPTD_Drivers ” and the STPD driver from this link: http://forum.duplexsecure.com/showthread.php?t=274. For those who use 32 bit editions of XP, you can try to download the GEARS driver here following this link: https://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm.

The software above is intended for resolving issues not only for iTunes, but for many other applications as well. There are some applications that can post the same errors like “Disk burner or software not found” like Nero for instance. The great thing about Nero is that when you reinstall it the problem goes away. Itunes was not intended for Windows, but not the compatibility is the problem here. Over the years, Apple has demonstrated that its software is rather reliable, but when it starts to do damage, it’s very hard to find a solution that worth’s it. Many have tried to eliminate Apple software, but there is something missing when you don’t see iTunes or QuickTime and so on as an alternative. The software we just recommended above resolve many more issues with the applications installed on your computer like Winamp and many more.

When facing messages like “Disk burner or software not found” on your Toshiba laptop, don’t throw away iTunes because it does offer you general stability and it does a quality job; just remember to use the recommended software for your Operating System and you won’t face any problems.

Toshiba Laptop A505 S6960 Reviews

May 27th, 2010

Toshiba Satellite a505-s6960 is one of the budget releases of the Japanese manufacturer. Over the years, Toshiba has raised the bar of its quality, becoming one of the leaders in the laptop business. The Satellite family has been full of surprises and the a505-s6960 doesn’t disappoint.

It’s a 16 inch laptop that promises a lot. Although intended for students (due to the release date right before the beginning of the school year, the <back to school> marketing time) the Toshiba satellite a505-s6960 appeals to anybody. It’s a great deal looking at the price and at the performance it promises. We will show you why.

First of all, let’s see the components list we will get with the package: 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 CPU, 4 GB of 800 MHz DDR2 RAM, 320GB 5,400 rpm hard drive, Mobile Intel GM45 chipset, Intel GMA 4500MHD (integrated) video/graphics card. It’s a very good configuration, but not the best. The components blend in perfectly; very good speed, thanks to the 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and the 4 GB of RAM; very good hard drive with plenty of storage space. It’s not good for gaming, but you can always get a Play Station or an X-Box. The memory can be expanded up to 8 GB, but you won’t need it soon because 4 GB are enough for today’s applications. It can perform really great for CAD applications, Photoshop, Corel Draw, not to mention basic apps like Office and such. The real disadvantage is the fact that you can’t run demanding games on it, but it can manage most of the games released in the past years.

toshiba-laptop-a505-s6960-reviews

The 16-inch wide-screen LCD offers a 1,366×768 native resolution, very well for this price range. It’s a quality display with beautiful color, good contrast, and powerful brightness. The a505-s6960 comes with all the features you would expect from a laptop this king, but it troughs something more. Beside the classic features like Stereo speakers, headphone/microphone jacks, VGA-out, HDMI, ExpressCard/54, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and DVD burner, Toshiba ads 3 USB 2.0, eSATA/USB 2.0 combo, multiformat card reader. It’s not much, but is does make a difference when you get to use the laptop in complex environments. It suffers because it has no built-in Bluetooth, but you can’t expect that much from a laptop in this price range.

toshiba-laptop-a505-s6960-reviews-2

It comes with Windows Vista, and even if some consider Vista bad, you can manage with it quite well. You can upgrade to Windows 7 because the a505-s6960 supports 64 bit applications, although you won’t use them (excepting Win 7) in the next period of time.

On the outside of this Toshiba we can see the Fusion Finish consisting in a sonic pattern in black onyx. It’s a great finish and a row of touch-sensitive media controls (above the keyboard) and a Webcam and Mic (above the screen) complete it.

Looking for other the Toshiba satellite a505-s6960 reviews, we found out that this laptop has been rated excellent by almost every one. Expert’s reviews gave it 7.5 out of 10 and users have been rating it at 8 out of 10. Overall, it’s a great piece of machinery, especially considering the price. Not many companies afford to throw such a configuration at this price and that makes the Toshiba satellite a505-s6960 a great choice for a laptop, not just for students, but for any user.

Hp Vs Toshiba Laptops

May 26th, 2010

Most of the common laptop users are not that committed to a particular brand. They have general ideas and preferences, but they don’t appeal to a certain brand. When going out to buy a laptop, you have to face tough decisions regarding the product you desire. You have to find the perfect compromise between price, performance and personal requirements (such as screen size and accessories)

Many brands are associated as being in competition on the same target. Such an example is HP vs. Toshiba. The reason is very simple: similar performances and similar prices. We will try to find the differences between these two brands. For this, you have to find a laptop from each manufacturer, that have very similar specifications. To not be interpreted as advertising for one brand, we shall select older models of HP and Toshiba for this example. We have the HP Pavilion DV4170 vs. the Toshiba Satellite M45-S355. We will take every specification offered by the manufacturers and analyze them in parallel.

hp-vs-toshiba-laptops

First, we will look at the processor because it’s one of the most important parts and you can’t really upgrade it. Both laptops have Pentium CPUs with 533 MHz FSB and 2 MB L2 cache, but the Toshiba has a slightly more powerful one (M750 of 1.86 GHz) than the HP model in question (the M740 of 1.73 GHz). It’s not a big difference but for some it may be an important (although you can’t really feel the difference). The RAM memory and video card are practically identical (1 GB of DDR333 SDRAM and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 of 128 MB shared). At first sight, the hard drives are identical (do to the 100GB storage space each laptop features), but the difference is again on the Toshiba side, thanks to the 5400RPM speed, superior to the 4200 RPM provided by the HP HDD.

The next thing that we saw was the speakers; Toshiba comes equipped with Harmon Kardon and HP with Altec Lansing. They are both good and give similar sounds, but the difference is the position: on the Toshiba the speakers are in the back, under the laptop, while the HP has the speakers in the front of the case; here, opinions may vary, because it’s a matter of preference. A plus for HP is the exceptional ports because HP offers Media Card Reader (SD, MMC, Memory stick/pro, XD, Smart Media), express card and IR, while Toshiba offers only media card reader (MMC, SD, memory stick/pro and XD). One thing that Toshiba hasn’t got and HP does is a remote located in the card slot and also HP headphones.

hp-vs-toshiba-laptops-2

Another advantage of HP is HP Quick Play; it’s a feature that allows the user to play CDs, DVDs and MP3s from the hard drive without booting. The Toshiba also has its own version, the Toshiba Express Media Player, but this doesn’t allow playing MP3s from HDD, just CDs and DVDs. The worst part of the Toshiba when compared to HP is the battery life. Usually the battery life of this Toshiba is around 2 hours and a half, less than the 3 hours and 20 that is offered by HP. Displays are almost identical, the Toshiba has a 15.4 inch WXGA display with TruBrite Technology and the HP has a 15.4 inch WXGA HD BrightView screen. The prices are similar, but the HP is more expensive.

From here you will have to decide which one you like best (Toshiba vs. HP), and apply the method in real world, when you search for a laptop of your own.

Refurbished Toshiba Laptop Satellite

May 26th, 2010

Refurbished items are second hand products that are reconditioned and re-sold. The refurbished market has outgrown the new laptop market because it consists of new models as well as old ones. You can find some laptops that were produced 6 or even 7 years ago, and although they are obsolete, they can perform many tasks for the common user.

There are online stores that specialize in reselling laptops. The refurbished laptops can be organized in three categories: new models, old models and very old models.

New models of refurbished Toshiba Satellite are very well equipped. They are items that were purchased in the last two years. You can really find a bargain because most of them were returned in store after a small amount of usage; most were returned because they didn’t match the requirements of the buyer, not because of malfunction – even if the laptop had issues, before reselling, the store has repaired the damaged areas (that is the whole point of refurbishing).

You can get an almost new laptop if you search close enough. You can see how old is the laptop from the info given to you by the store, or you can find out from the laptop package. You can’t really figure out how used is the laptop just by knowing the date it was purchased because people have very different ideas of using a laptop. Usually, the casing has been changed or repaired, do you can’t look at the laptop and form an opinion of it, either. It’s a game of luck.

refurbished-toshiba-laptop-satellite

Some of the laptops you fill most commonly find are: the Satellite L500D-ST55X1, Satellite T115D-S1125, Satellite A500-ST6644, Satellite U500-ST6344, Satellite P500-ST6844 and so much more. These are very well equipped laptops that virtually do anything their new brothers can. Simply buying a refurbished laptop from this category knocks of between 10% and 20 % of the price. If you are lucky, you can get it even cheaper.

refurbished-toshiba-laptop-satellite

Older models are much cheaper, but you won’t get the same performance as in the previous category. You can find models that have been released 3-4 years ago, but this is not a reason to worry; you can still have a good Toshiba Satellite laptop even from previous models. Here we can find the Satellite 1800 and 2800 series. These models are known for their reliability, and for the price you get them, it does seam a very good bargain. The thing is that these items deserve taking in consideration.

Technology doesn’t change so much so laptops made 4-5 years ago to be completely obsolete. In fact, a laptop made a few years back is rather slower and doesn’t perform well when given hard tasks (for today’s standards), but it can still do much of the basic tasks the common user has to deal with. You can get a refurbished Toshiba Satellite laptop from this category for less than half the price you would pay for a new laptop of similar size and type.

refurbished-toshiba-laptop-satellite-2

You can find Toshiba laptops that are affordable by anyone just looking for refurbished items that were released 5-6 years ago. such an example is the L25-S1216. It has a very simple configuration (you might say even poor): Celeron 1.6 GHz processor, 256 RAM memory and a 40 GB hard drive. The main advantage is the price, because virtually anybody can afford it, and the laptop can perform basic applications, like Office apps, surfing the internet and so on.

If you want to save some money and you don’t care about warranty, you should buy a refurbished Toshiba Satellite laptop.

Upgrading Toshiba Laptop Cpu

May 26th, 2010

Laptops are machines designed by the engineers to perform at the maximum performance its components can provide. The components inside a laptop are designed to work perfectly together and in perfect balance. Unlike desktops, laptops are very rigid when it comes to changing parts. You have to get compatible parts and as similar to the old ones as possible.

Many have asked the question if you can upgrade the CPU of a laptop. Well, the simple answer is NO; technically, it possible, but you under some circumstances and you won’t feel the difference. You can upgrade the CPU by very small differences in speed numbers. The maximum value of upgrade is technically 20% (a 1.7 GHz dual core CPU can be replaced by a 2 GHz CPU). The motherboard doesn’t support more than that; this sort of change inside your laptop may do much more damage that you think. The thing is that you will not feel the difference between such similar numbers, even if you upgrade the RAM memory. If you really want to do it, consider the type of CPU you are replacing, because they have different values of speed they can actually provide and different temperature limits. When you are looking at the temperature you need to know that if you change the type of processor unit, you need to change the heatsink metal and the fan as well; the problem is that it’s very hard to find compatible pieces, especially for the tight spaces inside a laptop.

upgrading-toshiba-laptop-cpu

It’s risky to deal with CPU changing because this might fry your motherboard. Motherboards are designed to support a certain amount of resources such as CPU and RAM. When you are dealing with laptop motherboards you should know that the minimal design doesn’t allow much flexibility for the rest of the components. Every motherboard has a set of recommendations for maximum efficiency. That means you can not change components as you wish; you have to consider the motherboard.

There are rumors that CPUs are designed a little different for laptops than for desktops. The main differences are on the top of the processor’s cover; they consist in heating features; that may vary from CPU to CPU, from desktop designed CPUs to laptop designed CPUs. This is one of the reasons you shouldn’t try upgrading the CPU on your Toshiba laptop.

upgrading-toshiba-laptop-cpu-2

Experts recommend upgrading the other components, such as the RAM memory and the hard drive. You see, even here it’s tricky; you have to find the compatible options. When dealing with laptops you have to consider the compact design (the very limited space inside a laptop); that is why you should know the dimensions of compatible hard drives. When it comes to RAM, the motherboard comes with specifications regarding the maximum capacity. On older motherboards (but not to old) you will find a maximum capacity of 2 GB of RAM, but on newer ones 3 or even 4 GB. You have to take the type of RAM units that the motherboard supports, because you may wind up with DDR3 RAM instead of DDR or DDR2 (whatever design your motherboard supports).

With these said, I think it’s obvious that you can’t really upgrade the CPU on your Toshiba laptop without upgrading the main obstacle, your laptop’s motherboard. If you are looking for a motherboard, you should know that it’s hard to find a better motherboard that fits your old laptop’s design, but give it a try.

Toshiba Satellite A205s5825 Laptop

May 24th, 2010

Toshiba released the a200 series as part of the Satellite family with no special idea in mind: simple and reliable laptops at low prices. The Satellite a205-s5825 is the perfect example of the series. It is the perfect laptop for beginners and for students because it doesn’t promise anything special and it delivers the perfect environment for basic usage.

Toshiba Satellite a205-s5825 has a simple configuration that assures the user of perfect speed for undemanding applications and all you need for homework and surfing the internet. Here is the list of components:

  • Intel® Pentium® Processor T2370 (dual core 1.73 GHz)
  • 120 GB hard drive (5400 RPM)
  • 1GB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz SDRAM / max memory to be installed: 2GB
  • DVD-SuperMulti drive (+/-R double layer)
  • 15.4″ widescreen with WXGA with TruBrite® Technology
  • Atheros® Wireless LAN (802.11b/g)
  • 10/100 Ethernet LAN
  • Li-Ion (4000mAh, 6-Cell)

    toshiba-satellite-a205s5825-laptop

When you take a closer look, you will find the same thing we said before, but a little bit sweeter. The Intel Dual Core processor of 1.73 GHz and the 1 GB of RAM memory give you the speed for simple applications like Office and even previous versions of Photoshop or Corel Draw, and the 120 GB hard drive gives you the storage space you need for personal files, some music and some movies, too. The DVD-supermulti drive helps you make DVDs with all your home made movies and so on. The Atheros Wireless LAN and the Ethernet LAN give you access to internet in all conditions.

The 15.4 inch widescreen with WXGA makes watching movies or TV on your Toshiba Satellite a205-s5825 a great experience thanks to the TruBrite technology that Toshiba offers to its users. One of the main purposes of a laptop is mobility; for this reason, Toshiba equipped the a205-s5825 with a 6-Cell Li-Ion battery that provides energy for up to 4 hours of usage. This laptop also comes with 1-ExpressCard™ Slot, a 5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter and 4-USB (2.0) ports, to assure maximum efficiency of your experience.

    toshiba-satellite-a205s5825-laptop-2

Along with the package, Toshiba provides the software required for the Satellite a205-s5825 to run from the moment you open the box and plug the AC adaptor. So, your laptop comes equipped with the following: Toshiba Assist , Memeo AutoSync , Memeo AutoBackup , Google Toolbar , Adobe Acrobat Reader , Toshiba Speech System , Toshiba Value Added Package , Toshiba Game Console , Toshiba ConfigFree , Google Desktop , Microsoft Office Professional 2007 (60 days trial) , Toshiba DVD Player , Sun Java 2 Runtime Environment , Toshiba Disc Creator , LoJack for Laptops , Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 for Toshiba , Norton 360 , Google Picasa , Napster , Toshiba Extended Tiles for Windows Mobility Center and Google Earth.

    toshiba-satellite-a205s5825-laptop-3

You will find these very useful because you don’t need to search for software and you don’t have to install them. All these require time and work. When you see the Office software installed you should know that it’s a trial version and it runs only for 60 days. After that, you should purchase a Medialess License Kit (MLK) to activate the software. To avoid further complications, you should do a back up disk image because you might lose your settings when you install or change the status of some applications.

The Toshiba Satellite a205-s5825 is a very good and reliable piece of machinery. Don’t expect it to run demanding applications or games, because it won’t (and if it does, you won’t get quality). It is perfect for beginners and students for homework and internet surfing.

  • How To Install Gateway Hd2200 On Toshiba Laptop

    May 24th, 2010

The Gateway HD 2200 is a monitor designed to equip Gateway desktops. What makes the Gateway HD 2200 so special is the huge diagonal of 22 inches; that makes it one of the largest monitors released on the market. Although it was designed for desktops, the Gateway HD 2200 made itself one of the best candidates for being an accessory for laptops.

The fact is that the Gateway HD 2200 is the perfect external monitor for a Toshiba laptop. One of the compromises of having a laptop is dealing with the small display, which goes up to 17 inches on the larger models. When you own a 13 inch model or a 15 inch model, you can’t be that comfortable using it as an entertainment unit, especially when you want to watch a movie with some friends. Installing a Gateway HD 2200 on your Toshiba laptop may save you a lot or trouble.

    how-to-install-gateway-hd2200-on-toshiba-laptop

Installing a Gateway HD 2200 as an external monitor on your Toshiba laptop is not hard. In fact, this is one of the simplest things to install on a laptop. You need to find the HDMI or VGA input on the laptop’s back. The HDMI input has the shape of a trapeze and 15 pins. You can’t miss it because of the shape and the color; it’s usually colored differently than the rest (green, yellow, blue and so on). The Gateway monitor comes with a HDMI cable; if it doesn’t, you can find one in any IT or electronics store.

    how-to-install-gateway-hd2200-on-toshiba-laptop-2

You just connect the external monitor to the Toshiba laptop through the HDMI cable and that is all the hardware work you need to do. Sometimes this is enough to get the signal on the external monitor, but not always; you might have to do some changes to the settings of the laptop. You have to work with the Fn key in combination with F3, F5, F8 or F9 depending on the model of the laptop. You can detect which one simply by looking on the F keys; you will find printed on the key a small icon that symbolizes the shortcut it meets when pressing in combination with the Fn key; when you see a little monitor printed on the key, stop there.

If you can’t see which one is the key you need, Google search the Fn combinations for your model of laptop. If you want image on both displays (the laptop display and the Gateway external monitor) you have to press the combination just once. If you want the image just on the external monitor, press the combination twice. This will assure you the image is displayed how you want. Pressing the combination the third time, the image will return on the Toshiba LCD display, disabling the external monitor. Knowing how large the external monitor is compared to the laptop display, you probably need to change the resolution.

To do that, you have to enter display settings (in the Control Panel under Appearance or right click directly on the desktop background, Properties, under Settings you will find Screen Resolution and adjust the resolution how you see fit). The operating system doesn’t require additional software for installing a Gateway HD 2200 on your Toshiba laptop; you just have to follow the steps written above.

How To Restore Wifi In Vista Toshiba Laptop

    May 24th, 2010

The two latest operating systems from Microsoft had their share of problems right from the beginning. When Vista on 64 bit came out, it was one of the most unstable OS ever made by Microsoft. Over the time, Microsoft has repaired the damage, but you can still find older editions of Vista that can make you trouble. When they realized that the image damage made by Vista, Microsoft didn’t bother to repair them all, they started working on Windows 7. The problem now is that windows 7 promised all the Vista had to offer and more, but the first editions were full of issues. So, many computers that came equipped with Vista gave big headaches to users; even with upgrades to Windows 7, many came across some of the same problems.

One of the issues that we encountered was the WiFi connection. The thing is that we realized that this problem was generated by bad software (not the king of bad software like viruses or Trojans, but malfunction of the OS or installed drivers). The first thing you have to know is that both Vista and Windows 7 are 64 bit operated OS. That being said, you have to look for 64 bit drivers.

When dealing with WiFi problems you will find a pop up message that sounds like this:” Intel R PROSet/wireless Event Log Service stopped working and was closed”. Before any big changes on the software part of your computer, you are advised to make a back up copy of your disk configuration. Now, the first thing you should do for restoring WiFi in Vista is reinstalling the drivers: Intel Wireless LAN Driver for Windows (64bit) and   Intel Proset for Windows Vista (64bit).

    how-to-restore-wifi-in-vista-toshiba-laptop

After you reboot, you will see if the changes you made work. If they don’t, we will try another thing. Go to Control Panel on the programs and features icon and uninstall the Intel Proset utility. After reboot, download and install Intel Proset For Windows Vista on 64 bit. This should fix the problem, because there are no further things you can do. More drastic measures for restoring WiFi in vista on Toshiba laptops include reinstalling the entire software of the laptop. Many have tried upgrading Vista to Windows 7. It’s true that Windows 7 is a more complex operating system, but this didn’t do the trick for most. Actually, any solution is not guaranteed to work. When you are doing changes to your computer, you don’t really know what is going on inside the software processes.

If you don’t use the wireless connection and the only thing that is bothering you is the pup up message:” Intel R PROSet/wireless Event Log Service stopped working and was closed” you can remove it simply. Go into Msconfig and stop the program to run in startup. For doing this, you have to enter Run from the Start menu, type MSCONFIG, Click on the services tab and find the one for the Proset event log and uncheck it. When you click OK the changes have been made.

    how-to-restore-wifi-in-vista-toshiba-laptop-2

Many conflicts occur in the complex operating systems, that is why many recommend the simple OS like Windows XP or even Linux versions because they are more stable and they do the job as well. The difference between these and the more complex OS is the amount of gadgets, but not all of them can be used by common users. They are more intended for programmers and engineers. Even here it becomes tricky because it’s hard to make software on 64 bit.

How To Remove Toshiba Laptop Bezel

    May 24th, 2010

Low cost laptop owners deal with problems on their laptops all the time. One of the ideas of owning a product from a low cost brand is compromise between cost and durability. Another idea is to save money by doing all the repairs you can yourself. One of the most frequently asked questions by handy men on forums is “How to remove the bezel”.

First, you have to consider safety. Before doing any job on the hardware department, you have to unplug the power cord and remove the battery. Another thing is to be sure of what you should do for fixing the problem, because you might end up with more to reassemble than you should, and even cause some problems in areas you didn’t have to reach. Removing the Toshiba laptop bezel is useful only for repairs on the upper side of the laptop, the LCD area. Here, you can reach for repair the backlight, the inverter and the LCD screen. When it comes to tools, you need just a Philips screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver.

On Toshiba laptops, you will usually find four screws that secure the bezel. To reach the two on the top, remove the rubber bumpers that hide them. For the two bottom screws, you will have to remove the rectangular paste INS that hides them. After this, it shouldn’t be a problem unscrewing them, but be careful not to ruin the head, so use a screwdriver that matches.

Prying the plastic shell requires the flathead screwdriver and some force. You have to fit in the flathead when beginning to open the snap-together injection molding. Once you can see the snaps, you can act directly on them and it’s much easier.

    how-to-remove-toshiba-laptop-bezel

The question now is if your problem is with the backlight or the inverter or the LCD. The first thing is to detach the backlight. Newer models of laptops don’t have a backlight because the new models of LCD don’t require one; it’s not a big deal, but an LCD  with no backlight can save you battery life. You need a small Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two small screws from the backlight.

If the problem with your Toshiba laptop is the backlight, you should proceed by changing it. It’s no big deal; you just have to see how the old one was installed and repeat that. If the problem is the LCD or the inverter, forget the backlight and let’s go further. Now, we will proceed by removing the LCD. Whatever the problem is, you can resolve it now.

    how-to-remove-toshiba-laptop-bezel-2

Replace the LCD screen or the inverter and resemble the laptop. It shouldn’t be hard if you follow the steps backward. For an inexperienced person or if this is the first time inside that laptop, this is the key: remember what you did when you disassembled the laptop in the first place and do it backwards. If you do it right, you shouldn’t have pieces left except the tools you used and the replacing piece or pieces.

Doing an operation like Removing the Toshiba laptop bezel shouldn’t require too much effort. You should know that all basic procedures when repairing a laptop are simple once you get used to it. If the laptop you are repairing is your own laptop it’s much easier because you know the laptop very well after you look inside it a couple of times and it gets easier every time.

How To Replace Toshiba Laptop Keyboard

    May 22nd, 2010

Owning a Toshiba is a compromise between low price and constantly repairing something. When you decide to buy a Toshiba, you know you will have moments when you have to take it in shop, but if you want to save even more, you will repair it yourself.

When you want to disassemble a desktop, you just pull out the power cord and you whatever you want to do. Well, laptops are not that easy to handle. The compact design makes the laptop much more difficult to disassemble. So, when you want to change some component or you just want to clean the dust from the inside of the laptop you have to go through much more than if you would do the same thing to a desktop.

If you want to replace the laptop keyboard from your Toshiba you should know that it’s a task that requires some work. In the process you will have to follow six steps so you’ll get the best result.

  • You will have to disconnect your laptop from all power supply. That means you will have to pull the power cord out and remove the battery as well. For removing the battery, locate release button on the bottom of the laptop. This button needs to be held in while the battery pack is slid free from the computer.

  • Remove all the screws from the bottom of the laptop. The number of screws depends on the model of the laptop. The general rule is one screw in every corner and one or two in the center. Now you have to slide the hard drive from the laptop; the hard drive will generally be located on the left or right side of the laptop (you will see a small symbol engraved into the laptop to denote its location).
  • Remove the two screws from the back of the computer that hold the screen’s hinges.Pull up gently on the screen until the two pegs that held the screen clear the holes in the laptop’s body. Make sure you do not pull too hard the wires that connect the laptop screen so they remain attached. By doing this, you release the screen from the body of the laptop.
  • Expose the laptop components by separating the two plastic halves of the laptops external case. Lifting up on the keyboard pad and flipping it on its face, you will notice a stripe leading out from the keyboard into the laptop. To can remove the keyboard, you must unscrew the metal piece that covers the computer’s motherboard.

  • Once you have removed the metal piece, you will have to disconnect the cable that unites the keyboard and the motherboard. To do that you have to follow the strip cable to the motherboard connection; you will find a plastic tab that ensures the connection- pull it to remove the connector. Now you just remove the keyboard.
  • Get the new keyboard ready to install. Insert the end of the film-like connector into the plastic tab you released earlier. Now all you have to do is follow the steps backwards and reassemble the laptop.

This is the basic procedure for replacing the keyboard on a Toshiba laptop. If you follow the steps as we said, you can’t do it wrong. The key is to be very careful to not disconnect any wires inside the laptop or do any damage to the components, because the room inside a laptop is very tight.
